I Don't Need No Fucking Education!

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

I truly fucking hate the university. This is a place where you have to learn some massive amount of shit in order to get a piece of paper which some employers attribute as a sign of cometence and/or basic intelligence. Actually, it's more of a sign of being able to suffer by a bunch of idiots, torturing you with their evil exercises that you'll never make any use of in your entire life.

I have to make this exam down. Shit!

  • Elephants Dream is out. It's much more quality than I originally thought. It's amazing what it is possible to create with purely Open Source software.
  • lowfat is an interesting project.

Home Page Moved

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

I've successfully moved my home page from Objectis to laci.monda.hu, powered by MediaWiki. I loved Plone, but Objectis was slow and I didn't like Plone's markup language very much. I've also customized the default CSS in a way that the header mimics my blog header and shared a navigation bar between my blog and my home page, so they are nicely integrated now. An average Joe couldn't tell that I'm using different CMSes. I'm pretty satisfied with my work, though the CSS still needs some love.

I'd like to thank Objectis for hosting my home page so far. They provided a reliable service and I had much fun working with Plone.

My Thesis Is Ready

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

I've been pretty busy on the last week writing my thesis. I'll only graduate in the next year, but I had to make it that soon. It's about UC and it looks pretty cool, actually cooler than on this picture.

I've just uploaded the paper to my home page into the Hungarian section. So grab it if you're fluent in Hungarian.

I'd like to thank my mentor, Vilmos Bilicki for his help. He has been very supportive throughout my work and positively influenced the project with his great ideas, especially regarding the Windows port and the plugin architecture. So thanks Vilmos!

UC: Screencast Storm

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006

I've just made a couple of screencasts demoing the most recently implemented features of UC. I'm pretty satisfied with them.

If you've made some screencasts too, I'd be very glad if you could share them with the public. Either upload them to your site and give me the URL or send them to me so I can upload them. You may want to look up my guide on how to set up your environment optimally for screencasting. As a last note on optimal resolution, it should be 896×672, but not bigger under any circumstances.

Here's a nice shot featuring the new, revamped GUI:
